The idea for the duck hatched at a coffee festival in 2023, when I had to stop tasting after visiting half the stalls. My onset of caffeine-induced hyperactivity threatened to jeopardize domestic harmony, and I couldn't find a single decaffeinated or low-caffeine coffee at the entire festival that was sufficiently interesting.
Many conversations and some extensive online searches later, I had confirmation that the need for decaffeinated or low-caffeine coffee that reflects the diversity of flavours of specialty coffee is not unique to me.
So I began delving deeper into the subject than originally intended as a home roaster, and I began looking for farms and producers who not only produce exciting coffees, but also support local communities and are aware of their ecological impact.

We roast small quantities fresh to order in the heart of Vienna.
Our ROEST roaster is not only electric and therefore emission-free compared to traditional gas roasters, but also enables outstanding precision and consistency.
This is particularly important to us, not only because the decaffeination process changes the structure of the bean and requires careful application of heat, but also because we see it as our responsibility to the producers to ensure that the roast does justice to their hard work.
